On Slash Fiction: Non Core Post

One thing that I found really interesting was how different Jenkins portrays slash fiction in the fan community for Star Trek than that of my experience of reading or coming across it online on sites like fanfiction.net or Archive of Our Own. In those instances, it seems as if nothing is off limits and people will read something if the writing quality is good. These days every fandom has some type of slash fiction both heterosexual and homosexual in nature. The latter is almost more preferred depending on the original text. But other topics that would be considered more controversial today such as incest and rape also seem to be fair game to the people writing fan fiction. There does not really seem to be a great divide in the fandom because of these writers like it is suggested in Jenkins' piece.
